Émile Prisse d'Avennes was a 19th century French archaeologist who was so obsessed with ancient Egypt that he worked as an engineer in Egypt in between archaeological digs, adopted an Egyptian name and, in his spare time, drew these incredibly detailed artworks that faithfully mimicked ancient Egyptian illustration styles.
